After more than half a century, astronauts have returned to the vicinity of the Moon with Artemis II! Following a flawless launch, the crew of four looped around the Moon before returning safely to Earth. Frank O'Brien, a NASA Solar System Ambassador, will discuss the events and accomplishments of the mission, along with NASA's exciting plans for permanent settlements on the Moon.
Frank O'Brien has spent his career at the intersection of space exploration, aviation, and computing. His accomplishments include serving as an editor for the Apollo Lunar Surface Journal and Apollo Flight Journal, as well as authoring a well-regarded book on the Apollo Guidance Computer. He has also lent his expertise to museums including the Cradle of Aviation and Infoage Science/History Learning Center, configuring Apollo-era exhibits and lecturing on the Apollo computer and space history.
