Ex-Red Bank Teacher Indicted On Child Sex Charges

Police say an ex-teacher at Red Bank Charter School was indicted on child sex charges at a Long Branch elementary school.

RED BANK, NJ — A man who once worked at Red Bank Charter school was recently indicted on sexual molestation charges against former students at Long Branch Elementary school, according to Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Lori Linskey.

Gustavo Barrientos, 53, worked in an unnamed Long Branch public elementary school, and has been charged with the molestation of four children. According to prosecutors, the assaults happened both during school field trips during the 2017-2019 school years and at the school.

Barrientos was initially arrested on Feb. 14, 2021 after police said he had shown a 10-year-old female student pornography and sexually assaulted her, which Patch originally reported on. After several investigations, investigators were able to indite him for one count of first-degree aggravated sex assault, three counts of second-degree sex assault, and four counts of second-degree child endangerment.

Investigators have not accused Barrientos of any crimes at Red Bank Charter school,but are still looking for more information. The Monmouth County Prosecutor has urged anyone with any additional information on Gustavo Barrientos to come forward.
