Garden Club R.F.D. Plant Sale-5/ 9 & 5/10 - Little Red Schoolhouse

Garden Club R.F.D.

Has this past week’s weather
been more to your liking?  Are you
happier now that the grass is turning green; the birds are chirping; the hosta,
sedum and daffodils are breaking ground and revealing their beauty?  Are you now realizing that after you’ve
cleaned up your garden areas, there are sections that need new plants after the
long tough winter did its damage?

There may be places that could use new perennials that will
come up each year and bloom or perhaps you need some annuals that will provide
the bright spots of color in your landscape.
Your solution is to come to the corner of Dwight and Middletown Lincroft
Roads, across the street from Thompson Middle School, where The Little Red
Schoolhouse stands.   Built in 1842 on property bought from Edward
and John Micheau for $7.00 it became the home for the Garden Club R.F.D. in
1954—a 112 year building that was leased from the Township in a relationship
that has been maintained for the past 60 years.

And so it is that on May 9, 10, the Garden Club R.F.D. will
hold its Annual Plant Sale as a means to raise money to maintain the
Schoolhouse that is now a National Historic Site.

The Club will have patio pots, hanging baskets, member-grown
plants, annuals, perennials and herbs as well as a Garden Boutique.  If you have plant-related questions, perhaps
we can help you.  If you are not sure
which plants would thrive in your garden, come and talk about it.  For further information, call
732-706-9314.  We’ll try to help you make
your garden bloom and provide a background for the time you will spend outside.  Come share our love of gardening and leave us
with plants that you will enjoy.

If you’d like any further information about the garden club,
itself, call June Smith at 732-671-9216.
We are members of the Garden Club of New Jersey and the National Garden
Club.
