RED BANK, NJ — Jersey Shore Ghost Tours is returning for its annual lantern-led tours of Red Bank for the Halloween season, starting Friday, Oct. 7.

Guide Genevieve Kelly will lead tour-goers through the town to share stories that are historic - but with a touch of the spine-tingling, she says. The tours have been run in Red Bank since 2008, and she said they have been run in Keyport since 2006.

Her company has also recently opened a shop, The Parlour, in Keyport, and they are preparing for the Keyport Bewitched Festival Oct. 29, Kelly added.

An added benefit of the tour is that it helps familiarize visitors with the towns. "Then they can look into their shops, restaurants," she said.

And she brings factual history into the tours - even though the history is often connected to "sightings" people have reported.

"Both towns have a lot of history - a lot of tragic events and untimely deaths. So we incorporate history with the ghost sightings. I'm a history nerd. I like to keep the history alive - it contributes so much to the charm of the towns," Kelly said.

She said history keeps the tour content grounded - but a ghost tale tends to make the history more memorable.

Red Bank tours will start Friday nights Oct. 7 to Nov. 11 may be subject to change, so always check .

The tours meet in front of the Dublin House, 30 Monmouth St., in Red Bank.

Private tours also are available, and can be scheduled by contacting JerseyShoreGhostTours@gmail.com.
