Juneteenth Celebration Planned For Red Bank Church On Sunday
Red Bank Chamber Music Society presents the Harlem Chamber Players at the United Methodist Church of Red Bank on Sunday.
REB BANK, N.J. —The Red Bank Chamber Music Society presents a Juneteenth Celebration: Harlem Chamber Players on Sunday, June 19, at 4:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church of Red Bank, 247 Broad St.
The concert highlights music composed, performed and influenced by Black musicians from the 18th to 20th centuries, the society website says.
It is sponsored by the society in partnership with the T. Thomas Fortune Cultural Center and is free of charge.

Liz Player, founder and executive and artistic director of the Harlem Chamber Players, will provide commentary on the presented works and their significance in the development of classical chamber music.
In planning and organizing the concert, Red Bank Chamber Music Society is partnering with the T. Thomas Fortune Cultural Center. T. Thomas Fortune’s family was actively engaged in the enjoyment of classical music in the greater Red Bank area, the society's website says.

A video recording of the concert will be broadcast on the Brookdale public access channel and available on YouTube, starting on July 24.
Artists are Ashley Horne, violin; Claire Chan, violin; William Frampton, viola; Wayne Smith, cello; and Kyle Walker, piano, according to the society's website.
The program includes works of: Joseph Bologne, "Chevalier de Saint-Georges, String Quartet No. 5 in G Major"; Florence Price, "String Quartet No. 1 in G Major"; George Walker, "Molto Adagio Lyric for Strings from String Quartet No. 1"; Harry T. Burleigh, "Southland Sketches for Violin and Piano"; and Antonín Dvořák, "String Quartet No. 12 in F major, Op. 96".
The Red Bank Chamber Music Society (RBCMS) is a nonprofit organization presenting chamber music concerts for the benefit of the community. It sponsors concerts of the highest professional level, at no cost to members. It encourages people of all ages and circumstances, especially students and parents with children, to discover and enjoy this musical experience.
The society is a membership organization and all activities are funded entirely by donations from our members. All members receive advance notification of concerts and the option to receive detailed program notes about the concerts via email.
