The Meat House Invites Public To Its Grand Opening In Shrewsbury
Owner Jenn Bane of Oceanport wants to spread cheer along with quality meats and prepared foods in her second store location.
SHREWSBURY, N.J.—Jenn Bane is a businesswoman, a yogi — and also a butcher. And she wants her newest store, The Meat House in Shrewsbury, to be a place where customers feel good energy when they're buying good food, she says.
The Meat House has had a "soft" opening for three months in Shrewsbury at the Village Shops on 555 Shrewsbury Avenue. But at 3 p.m. tomorrow, May 19, Bane is showcasing her store in a grand opening with local officials, food tastings and, she hopes, visits by many members of the public.
Bane, of Oceanport, already has owned The Meat House in Summit for nine years. It's part of the community there, she said, and she wants to create the same vibe here.

"I want customers to feel the good energy when they walk through the door," Bane said.
Her store slogan: "We're More Than Meats the Eye," reflects the store's decidedly new-age butcher shop feel. The store offers many prepared foods created by manager Dominique Ravaschiere, and also offers catering. Steak tips are a signature item, Ravaschiere said, as is the Meat House chicken, both infused with a marinade.

For Bane, the atmosphere at the store is as important as the food. High-quality meats are a must, she says, but the store also offers signature ravioli, honey and other prepared items. The store makes sandwiches and has produce and other market items.
The customer experience comes first, she says, and in a time of more isolation as a result of the pandemic and the demands of technology, she envisions the store as a way for people to engage with each other.
"The Meat House is like 'Cheers', where everyone knows your name," Bane said.
