Monmouth Symphony Orchestra nominated for ‘People’s Choice Award’

The Monmouth Symphony Orchestra has been nominated for the JerseyArts.com People’s Choice Award. The symphony, which was nominated by fellow arts organization members of Discover Jersey Arts, is asking the community to vote for the Monmouth Symphony Orchestra as their favorite “Symphony/Orchestra” by going online to the Monmouth Symphony Orchestra’s website at www.monmouthsymphony.org, or to the symphony’s Facebook page. Voters can also go to JerseyArts.com/vote.

Supporters have every reason to be proud of the Monmouth Symphony Orchestra’s accomplishments to earn this nomination and your vote. The orchestra performs four times a year at the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank NJ, and features special guests such as soprano Victoria Cannizzo, flutist and composer Gary Schocker, harpist Emily Mitchell, and pianist Ron Levy. The MSO will also be performing major works this season by Rachmaninoff (Symphony No. 2), Prokofiev (Romeo and Juliet Suites), Mozart (Concerto for Flute and Harp, Piano Concerto No. 14), Ravel (Boléro), and Tchaikovsky (Piano Concerto No. 3). In addition, the MSO sponsors an annual Young Artist Concerto Competition for gifted pre-college students as well as an education outreach Young People’s Concert to get children excited about playing an instrument.

Nominees for the People’s Choice Awards were nominated by their peers through the Jersey Arts Marketers network, which is made up of hundreds of nonprofit arts groups across the state. Voters have an opportunity to cast votes in 16 arts categories including “Symphony/Orchestra”. The deadline to vote is Feb. 11. People’s Choice Award winners will be announced on March 5 and will be honored at the New Jersey Conference on Tourism in Atlantic City that day.
