Red Bank Police To Celebrate Autism Awareness Month
The police department has decorated its patrol cars with Autism Awareness Month decals.

RED BANK, NJ — The Red Bank Police Department is honoring Autism Awareness Month by displaying a logo on their patrol vehicles.
The logo was donated to the police by, Autism Awareness with the Kelly Family, saying on social media, “Autism became part of our life when Kathleen was diagnosed at the age of three. We have chosen to combat this lifelong disorder by creating awareness.”
Autism New Jersey is collaborating with police departments throughout Monmouth County to increase the understanding and acceptance of people with autism.

Autism New Jersey and The Autism MVP Foundation are partnering with the Belmar Friendly Sons of the Shillelagh and will host the first annual Polar Plunge in Belmar on April 23.
According to the Autism Society website, “Autism is a complex, lifelong developmental condition that typically appears during early childhood and can impact a person’s social skills, communication, relationships, and self-regulation. The Autism experience is different for everyone. It is defined by a certain set of behaviors and is often referred to as a “spectrum condition” that affects people differently and to varying degrees.”

According to the CDC, 1 in 44 children in the U.S. is diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The disorder does not discriminate and affects families from all walks of life.
