Red Thumbs to Stop Car Accidents in Monmouth & Ocean County

Paint your thumbnail red & stop car accidents. Raise awareness and make the roads in Monmouth & Ocean County safer!

Wall Township & Red Bank, NJ – According to the national safety council 1.6 million auto accidents per year are the result of cell phone use. Texting and driving accounts for 1 out of every 4 car accidents. In an effort to reduce these statistics and bring awareness to the Monmouth and Ocean County area Monmouth Pain and Rehabilitation is launching a ‘Red Thumb Campaign’ through the end of May.

The concept of the ‘Red Thumb’ was created three years ago by Steve Babcock, a father in Colorado. He painted his thumbnail red to break his habit of distracted driving for his young daughter and in honor of his uncle who lost his life in a car accident resulting from texting.

Monmouth Pain and Rehabilitation is a group of Physicians, Physical Therapists, Chiropractors, Acupuncturists and Massage Therapists working together to offer patients comprehensive plans of pain management. The MPR team is passionate about raising awareness to stop distracted driving and is encouraging patients and community members to paint their thumbnails red as a pledge and tangible reminder to not text and drive.
