Since opening in July, our mission at the Claddagh has been to provide our customers with the best locally made beers, liquors and food (coming soon). We have installed a new draft system which can hold up to 50 different drafts. We currently have 33 drafts running, many of which are brewed in NJ.
Perhaps a trend at one time, craft breweries and farmers markets, are here to stay. We have all learned and embraced the benefits of KEEPING IT LOCAL, namely fresher, healthier, and more sustainable products.
Local NJ breweries, like Carton, based in Atlantic Highlands, have made such a splash with their tasty, cleverly named beers. Not only do these breweries have a great product but they have united us and given us NEW JERSEYANS something to be proud about. And what's better than that?
A few weeks ago I met a man named Matt Brescia. Matt is the creator of Sandy Hook Iced tea, a drink that is 5 percent alcohol by volume with a blend of malt, green tea, and natural fruit juices with no preservatives. It has a great logo, and a funny acronym: S.H.I.T, but most importantly it is DELICIOUS. It is the perfect ready to drink cocktail. It is produced in a can so it can easily be transported to the beach or to a neighborhood party.
Like many of us, Matt lost his home in Sandy Hook, where he has worked for the National Park Service since 1999, during Super Storm Sandy. But he also “found” something that honors a place we all love (and something that may help him pay his bills).
Matt, his amazing creation, and many of the businesses that have successfully re-opened after Sandy are proof that we really are Stronger than the Storm.
We are happy to announce that Matt has chosen to have his Sandy Hook Iced Tea launch party at the Claddagh. We couldn't be more excited for this day!
So please join us on OCTOBER 4TH at the newly renovated Claddagh Irish Pub, 297 Bay Avenue, Highlands 07716, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Festivities will of course continue all night. To celebrate the launch, everyone can taste Sandy Hook Iced Tea; enjoy live bands, and beer cocktails; play Cornhole, a bean bag toss game; and win prizes.
The WRAT radio will be at the event helping us celebrate in style, giving our prizes and sponsoring games!
Let's remember to keep it local! See you on Friday.
