Shrewsbury Man Hit, Killed By Vehicle On Route 35
A local Shrewsbury man has been identified as the person struck and killed by a car on Rt. 35 Monday evening.
SHREWSBURY, NJ - A local Shrewsbury man has been identified as the person struck and killed by a car on Rt. 35 on Monday, according to the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.
Tamar Carseladze, 69, was attempting to cross the highway outside of a marked crosswalk at approximately 6:15 p.m. when a vehicle struck the pedestrian, the prosecutor's office said.
The incident occurred just north of Avenue at the Common.

An investigation revealed that a female motorist in a 2018 Honda Civic was driving in the southbound lanes of State Highway 35 when she struck Carseladze.
The Shrewsbury man was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead less than an hour later.

The driver was taken to the hospital for a non-life threatening injury. She was later released.
No summonses were issued, according to the prosecutor’s office.
The crash remains under investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, Shrewsbury Police Department and the Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team (SCART).
