2 Teens Rescued From Ice By Bergen County Police, Firefighters
A sled was used to rescue two NJ teen boys who got trapped. They were turned over to their moms, police in Bergen County said.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — When two 16-year-old boys walked across the ice in Oradell last weekend and got stuck on an island, first responders came to the rescue.
The boys, both from New Milford, had made their way to Van Buskirk Island on Friday night, confirmed Oradell Police Lt. Maino this week. But then they were afraid to head back over the ice.
Around 5:45 p.m., a woman getting off the train in Oradell spotted what she thought were two younger boys trapped on the stretch of land, and contacted the authorities, Maino said.

No one was injured, he said. The boys were reunited with their mothers at the scene.
The Fire Department posted on social media, "Oradell Firefighters responded to the area of Grove Street to access the Hackensack River for a rescue involving two individuals who became stuck on one of the river islands.
"Firefighters used an ice rescue sled to safely reach the island and assist both parties back to the mainland. The Oradell Fire Department also partnered with Oradell Emergency Management, which deployed a drone equipped with thermal imaging to support the operation and maintain situational awareness."
