5 Republicans File To Run Against Gottheimer In NJ's 5th District

​Five Republicans have filed to challenge incumbent Representative Josh Gottheimer, a Democrat, in Bergen, Passaic, and Sussex counties.

Sab Skenderi of Wyckoff, Nick De Gregorio of Edison, Frank T. Pallotta of Mahwah, Fred Schneiderman of Cresskill, and Richard J. Franolich of Oakland submitted petitions by the 4 p.m. deadline, according to the state Division of Elections.

RIDGEWOOD, NJ — Five Republicans have filed to challenge incumbent Representative Joshua S. Gottheimer, a Democrat, in New Jersey's 5th District.

Monday was the deadline to submit candidacy petitions for the June 8 primary elections for Republicans and Democrats.

Gottheimer represents part of Bergen, Passaic, and Sussex counties. He was elected to the U.S. House in 2017.

Sab Skenderi of Wyckoff, Nick De Gregorio of Fair Lawn, Frank T. Pallotta of Mahwah, Fred Schneiderman of Cresskill, and Richard J. Franolich of Oakland submitted petitions by the 4 p.m. deadline, according to unofficial candidate lists posted by the state Division of Elections.

Skenderi got 257 signatures and is running on the slogan "End vaccine mandates. Deport illegal aliens."

DeGregorio, who got 381 signature, is running on the slogan "Republicans for Responsible Government."

Pallotta got 470 signatures and does not seem to have a slogan based on the state website. He is endorsed by the Sussex Hometown Republican Team and the Passaic County Republican Organization.

Schneiderman got 308 signatures and is running on the slogan "Experience, competence, integrity, results."

Franlolich, who got 218 signatures, is running on the slogan "truth in government."
