9 Burglaries, 3 Attempted Reported In Ridgewood So Far This Year: Officials
Several bicycles have been reported stolen.

Officials are urging Ridgewood residents to lock their doors and keep an eye out for valuables in light of several burglaries that have been reported recently.
A bicycle was stolen out of a Manor Road home garage last week, one of a “significant” number to occur in the village recently.
Roberta Sonenfeld, village manager. Sonenfeld sent out an e-mail alert Thursday afternoon alerting residents about the burglaries.

There have been nine burglaries and three attempted burglaries reported in the village this year. There were 10 burglaries reported last year during the same time frame.
Two burglaries were reported in the Old Country Club area in the past two weeks, said Sonenfeld.

Officials suggest taking the following precautions to prevent becoming a burglary victim:
- Try and make your home look occupied. Take in newspapers and mail, try not to leave dry cleaning at your front door, leave a vehicle in your driveway, and put lights on automatic timers.
- Lock all windows and doors, not just exterior screen doors.
- Call the police department at 201-652-3900 if you are leaving home for an extended period of time.
