Airmont, NY Man Charged With Sex Crime Against Child In Bergen County

A man from Airmont, N.Y. has been charged with a sex crime against a child in Bergen County, prosecutors said.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — An Airmont, N.Y. man has been charged with aggravated sexual contact in connection with an assault of a child in the past, prosecutors said Friday.

Andrew Villafuerte, 33, was arrested last Wednesday, Feb. 28, and charged with three counts of third-degree aggravated criminal sexual contact and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child, said the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office.

Prosecutors said that on Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2024, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit was contacted regarding the alleged sexual assault of a juvenile. An investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the New Milford Police Department determined that Villafuerte had "sexually assaulted a child in the past, in New Milford, NJ."

On Wednesday he was taken to the Rockland County Jail pending extradition to Bergen County for a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, prosecutors said.
