Alleged Shoplifter Caught, Dog-Walker Gets Harassed, Stolen Credit Card Used To By Chinese Food: Police
Here is a summary of activity by the Glen Rock Police Department for the past week.

GLEN ROCK, NJ — From July 17 to 23, borough police officers handled 202 calls for service, the highlights of which included:
July 17
10:06 a.m. – A Wellesley Road resident reported an ongoing issue with an individual trespassing in the yard of the residence after being asked not to do so. The alleged suspect was contacted and denied being on the property. The complainant has been referred to the Glen Rock Municipal Court to sign a complaint if desired, police said.

2:23 p.m. – The manager of CVS at 175 Rock Road reported confronting a shoplifter who was trying to leave the store with $46.13 worth of shampoo. The merchandise was recovered, however, the suspect fled before police could be called. Upon viewing the video footage, Detective Mike Trover recognized the suspect, a 35-year-old man last known to live in Paterson, and issued a shoplifting complaint, police said. The man is currently homeless and efforts to contact him through family members have been unsuccessful.
3:19 p.m. – During the course of a motor vehicle stop on Rutland Road, Officer Nick Onove arrested a 55-year-old Paterson man on active criminal warrants out of Caldwell, police said. The man indicated that he was having chest pains and was subsequently transported to Valley Hospital in Ridgewood for treatment, police said. He was also issued a summons for having open alcohol in a motor vehicle.

July 18
3:22 p.m. – The manager of the CVS at 175 Rock Road reported a shoplifting that had occurred two days prior at 4:45 p.m. The manager recounted that she had observed a male subject concealing what would later be determined to be $2,486 worth of merchandise in a bag, police said. Store employees confronted the man as he was attempting to leave the store without paying. The man fled the store and left the area in a vehicle, police said.
It was learned that a suspect fitting this man’s description was arrested at the CVS in Midland Park shortly after this incident occurred. After a review of video surveillance footage Detective Mike Trover obtained an arrest warrant for a 32-year-old Brooklyn, New York man charging one count of third-degree shoplifting, police said. The arrest warrant was served on the man, who was already incarcerated at the Bergen County Jail. A hearing before the Superior Court Central Judicial Processing Court is pending.
3:46 p.m. – A Dunham Place resident reported $701 worth of unauthorized transactions on his Capital One credit card. Upon reviewing his account, he determined at 12 separate charges were made in California on July 12, police said. The transactions occurred at three different locations involving the same retailer. The Detective Bureau is reviewing the matter in cooperation with the retailer.
5:34 p.m. – A Glen Rock woman reported that she was harassed while walking her dog on Lowell Road, police said. She did not know the identity of the specific individuals involved, but believed they lived at a Lowell Road residence, police said. The matter was documented and the woman was advised of the procedures to file a formal complaint with the court if desired.
July 20
5:42 p.m. – During the course of a motor vehicle stop on Grandview Avenue, Officer Bryan Scott arrested a 21-year-old Manchester man on active warrants issued by the Wall Township and Fairfield Municipal Courts. The man was unable to post a total of $785 bail, police said. Neither jurisdiction had the resources available to pick up the subject, he was subsequently released on his own recognizance with new court dates. He was also issued summonses for driving with a suspended license, operating an uninsured vehicle and failure to produce documents, police said.
7:35 p.m. – A Ridgewood woman reported that her bicycle, valued at $500, was stolen from the bicycle rack at the NJ Transit Boro Hall Train Station, police said. She had secured the bicycle to the rack with a lock before getting on a train at about 6:20 p.m. and discovered it missing when she returned at 6:30 p.m.
8:11 p.m. – A Fair Lawn woman reported receiving a phone call from a Glen Rock Chinese restaurant seeking to confirm an order placed in her name, using her credit card, police said. The woman had not placed the order and after checking her credit card account, found that two additional orders had been charged to her account over the last few months, police said. The Detective Bureau is reviewing the matter with the cooperation of the restaurant’s management.
July 21
11:02 a.m.– The Sussex County Sheriff’s Department detained a 36-year-old Highland Lakes man who was wanted by the Glen Rock Municipal Court on a no bail criminal warrant, police said. The man was subsequently taken into custody by Sgt. Rob Wojtecki and Officer Nick Onove who transported him to the Bergen County Jail, police said.
July 22
7:19 PM – The manager of Bottle King Liquors on Prospect Street reported an individual attempting to purchase alcohol with a fraudulent identification. Officer Sam Evans subsequently arrested 20-year-old Clifton man for possession of a forged New Jersey driver's license, police said. The suspect was processed at police headquarters and released on his own recognizance pending an appearance in Glen Rock Municipal Court Tuesday, police said.
July 23
4:56 p.m. – During the course of a motor vehicle stop on Route 208, Officer John Tarantino arrested a 55-year-old Newark man on active warrants issued by the Newark and North Caldwell Municipal Courts, police said. The man was transported to police headquarters where he posted a total of $750 bail and was released pending an appearance Newark and North Caldwell, police said. He was also issued summonses for careless driving and driving with a suspended license.
