BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — While 90-degree heat has descended on Bergen County, a storm may cool things down a bit before the weekend ends, the National Weather Service said.
A hazardous weather outlook was issued for the area, warning, "An approaching cold front will be capable of producing thunderstorms Saturday afternoon and evening across the area. There is a chance that some of the storms could become severe with damaging winds the main threat. The Storm Prediction Center has placed the area in a Slight Risk [category]."
However, most of the weekend will be sunny and dry, with wind gusts, the NWS said.
For Saturday, skies will be sunny, wind gusts as high as 26 MPH, forecasters say. At night, there's a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 2 a.m., with a low around 68.
On Sunday, there's only a 20 percent chance of showers after 2 p.m. The high will be 88.
