Today's riddle: What is the difference between black eyed peas and chick peas? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. Organizers Of Flooded NJ Marathon Banned From Bergen County Parks For A Year (patch.com) — Ridgewood runners and spectators were caught up in a chaotic half-marathon in Paramus, where waist-high floodwaters swamped parts of the course despite a flash flood watch. County officials say the private organizers are now banned from Bergen County parks for at least a year and may face further scrutiny over whether participants entered restricted ponds and unsafe areas.
2. Ridgewood Proclaims National Service Dog Month, Introduces Puppy-in-Training (tapinto.net) — Ridgewood's Village Council has officially proclaimed September 2026 as National Service Dog Month and is actively seeking local families to raise future service dogs. A Ridgewood family's puppy-in-training, Fenty, was introduced at the meeting, and the Ridgewood Library's partnership with The Seeing Eye offers another way for residents to support service dog training and disability assistance.
3. More flooding at Ridgewood school fields (northjersey.com) — Heavy rain on September 13 caused significant flooding around Ridgewood High School's stadium and nearby school fields, raising fresh concerns about drainage and field conditions. Multiple photos show water pooling across key athletic areas, an issue that could affect upcoming games, practices, and community use if not addressed quickly by school and village officials.
4. Historic run headlines N.J.'s cross country's standout performances from Week 2 (nj.com subscription) — Ridgewood's boys cross country team is off to a strong start, winning the Pod 1 Varsity title at the Season Opener Invitational at Darlington Park with the best team average of the meet. Senior Dean Ackley and teammates Brandon Spino and Jack Barsa led a tight pack that signals Ridgewood could be a major contender in Bergen County this fall.
