OLD TAPPAN, NJ — A regional high school in Bergen County was locked down for about an hour Friday morning after a student reported a knife in the building — but the concern turned out to be unfounded — a report said.
Northern Valley Regional High School in Old Tappan shut down in the morning after someone reported that a student at the school might have a knife, said a news report in the Record. But police found the student and concluded that he did not have a weapon, the report said.
Back in April, the school went into lockdown after a student brought an air gun to school, officials said at the time. The student was arrested, officials said.
The regional high school serves students in grades 9-12 from Harrington Park, Northvale, Norwood, and Old Tappan.
Other Local Lockdowns This Week
A number of schools went into lockdown this week, including in Hoboken, Monmouth County, Philadelphia, and Virginia. In some cases, the cause was a threat that turned out to be a hoax.
Another Bergen County school also briefly was locked down this week when someone reported a man with a machete outside (see that story here).
