BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A Ridgewood father of two passed away this week, and friends are raising funds for the family.
James A. Brennan was hospitalized on Sept. 29 after a heart attack, says a fundraiser for the family.
"James is a retired NYC sanitation worker who proudly served his city for 20 years, including working at Ground Zero following the September 11th attacks," the fundraiser says. "But above all, James is a devoted husband, an incredible father, and a cherished friend to so many. If you have ever met James, you know he has a special gift."
Brennan's obituary says he passed away on Wednesday.
"The funds will be used for medical expenses, travel expenses, funeral arrangements, and any incidental expenses incurred as a result of the financial hardship placed on the family in their time of need," organizers said.
The fundraiser had amassed more than $57,000 of a $100,000 goal by Friday. It can be found here.
Services will be held late next week. Details are here.
