Authorities Respond To Road Rage Incident At Franklin Avenue And Chestnut Street: Cops

Pedestrian threw a cup of iced tea at a vehicle.

  • July 3: Patrol units responded to the intersection of Franklin Avenue and Chestnut Street on a report of a physical dispute. It was determined that 63-year-old Melbourne Beach, Fla. man was attempting to cross Franklin Avenue when a vehicle failed to yield while he was in the crosswalk. The pedestrian reportedly threw a plastic cup of iced tea at the side of the vehicle striking the passenger side, police said. A passenger in the vehicle exited and a verbal dispute ensued.

According to police, the dispute became physical when the passenger of the vehicle reportedly head-butted the pedestrian. The pedestrian suffered only minor injuries and did not wish to pursue criminal complaints. There was no damage to the vehicle as a result of the incident.

  • July 3: A burglary to a garage was reported on Manor Road. The resident reported that their burglar alarm was activated at around 2 a.m. the night prior; however, the police were not notified. It wasn’t until the next morning that the resident realized a bicycle had been removed from the garage. The matter is currently under investigation by the Detective Bureau.
  • July 3: A Grove Street resident reported that his identity was compromised after finding that an unknown person filed tax returns in his name. The matter has been forwarded to the Detective Bureau.
  • July 4: A Woodside Avenue resident reported that his vehicle was damaged at some time the night prior. His vehicle’s rear window was smashed out by an unknown object. The matter is currently under investigation.
  • July 5: Patrol responded to a Beveridge Road residence on a report of a structure fire. Patrol officers ensured the residence was evacuated. The fire was contained to a stove top and microwave appliance. There were no injuries and the homeowners were able to return to their residence a short time later.
  • July 6: Patrol responded to the rear of 158 E. Ridgewood Ave. for a report of a vehicle fire. Officers were first to arrive and determined that a four-door sedan was engulfed in flames. Patrol also determined that the vehicle was unoccupied. Ridgewood Fire Department extinguished the fire and no other property damage was caused. The owner of the vehicle reportedly left it running while inside a restaurant.
