Bottle King Bandits Strike Again: Glen Rock Police Blotter

GLEN ROCK, NJ — Released by Glen Rock police and unedited by Patch, a spotlight on notable occurrences from last week.

9:07 a.m. – The director of security for the Glen Rock Public Schools reported that a window in an east side entrance door at Coleman School was found to be damaged. The window frame remained intact and no other damages were found around the school. Video surveillance footage is being reviewed by the school’s security staff.

2:19 p.m. – The management of Bottle King reported a shoplifting which had occurred about 20 minutes prior to police being notified. Two females and one male subject had entered the store as a team. One of the females took a bottle of Hennessy valued at $35.99, concealed it under her skirt, and the group then left the store. According to the management, in addition to the Glen Rock store, this group has been committing repeated shopliftings at their stores in Livingston, Bloomfield, Madison, Morris Plaints, and Chatham. Detectives are currently investigating this matter in cooperation with police in those jurisdictions.

1:16 p.m. – The management of Giannella’s reported that several days prior, they extended credit to a customer who had forgotten their wallet when making a lunch purchase. Giannella’s reported this issue when the customer failed to return and make payment as promised.

3:53 p.m. – A Glen Rock man reported that an unknown individual had attempted to file an unemployment claim in his name. The resident is currently employed and learned from his employer’s human resources department that other employees are having similar issues with false benefit claims. Glen Rock detectives are following up on this matter with investigators for the NJ Service Division of Criminal Justice.

11:48 a.m. – A Glen Rock woman reported that while walking her dog along Rock Road near Harding Plaza, her dog was attacked by a Pitbull, which was being walked by another resident. Bystanders assisted with separating the dogs and the woman immediately took her dog to a veterinarian. The biting dog was determined to be from the Bergen County Animal Shelter and was being fostered by a Glen Rock family. This matter has been turned over to Animal Control for further investigation.

11:08 p.m. – A resident on the 400 block of Doremus Avenue reported observing an unknown person who appeared to be attempting to enter their vehicle. As police were being called the resident reported that the person fled in the area in an unknown direction. Officers, assisted by the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department K-9 unit as well as officer from the Ridgewood Police Department, searched the area with negative results. No vehicles in the area were found to have been entered.
