Ridgewood Bank Robber Apprehended, Police Say

Jeffrey A. Morgan, 49, is accused of robbing the TD Bank branch on Franklin Avenue Tuesday, police said.

RIDGEWOOD, N.J. — Police have charged a Woodcliff Lake man with robbing the TD Bank on Franklin Avenue Tuesday afternoon. 

Jeffrey A. Morgan, 49, was charged with second-degree robbery and being a fugitive from justice, police said.

Police responded to the bank shortly before 4:30 p.m. on a report of a holdup alarm, Lt. Glenn Ender said.

Employees reported that a middle-aged white male passed a note demanding money, Ender said. The man was described as 5 feet, 8 inches tall, medium build, wearing a black hat and glasses, a yellowish V-neck T-shirt, and jeans. No weapons were involved, police said.

The Bergen County Sheriff's Crime Scene Unit and the FBI assisted with the on-scene investigation and information about the robbery was given to all regional law enforcement agencies, Ender said.

Jeffrey A. Morgan, 49, contacted the Bensalem, Pennsylvania Police department and said he wanted to turn himself in for robbing the bank, Ender said.

Morgan is being housed in the Bucks County, Pennsylvania Jail awaiting extradition to New Jersey, police said.

Morgan is charged with second-degree robbery by Ridgewood police and one count of being a fugitive from justice by the Bensalem, Pennsylvania Police Department.
