Lt. Brendan Corcoran set a new Guinness World Record for running a mile in full firefighting gear at the annual Fred d’Elia Memorial Day Ridgewood Run.
The previous record was 7 minutes and 58 seconds, which Corcoran soundly defeated at 6 minutes 45 seconds, unofficially, NorthJersey.com reported.
“I knew he could do it, but I still thought he was nuts,” Ridgewood Fire Chief Jim Van Goor told NorthJersey.com.

“We salute Brendan for making a difference in the war against firefighter cancer,” the Facebook post said.
