Car Struck By Train In Glen Rock: Glen Rock Police Blotter

11-24-2020

7:09 a.m. – Glen Rock Officers assisted the NJ Transit Police at the Rock Road Bergen County Line Railroad Crossing on Rock Road after a vehicle was struck by a train. There were no injuries. The engineer was not immediately aware of the collision as the head end of the train had already cleared the crossing. The driver of a blue 2015 Honda, a 59-year-old Glen Rock man, was issued a summons by the Transit Officer for disregard of a railroad signal and gates. State law requires motorist to stop between 15 and 50 feet of a railroad crossing when a signal warns of an approaching train. The wrecked vehicle was towed from the scene.

11-25-2020

10:33 p.m. – Patrols, along with Glen Rock Fire Fighters, responded to a residence on the 800 block of Harristown Road on a reported oven fire. The fire was contained to the oven, causing a smoke condition in the home. The scene was determined safe by fire personnel and PSE&G was notified for emergency service.

11-27-2020

3:21 p.m. – A Glen Rock man reported discovering an email dated November 22nd which purported to be an Amazon Prime confirmation for the purchase of an iPhone 12 Max and an Apple desktop computer totaling $ 5,698.99. Believing that the email was legitimate, he contacted the customer support phone number listed in an attempt to dispute the purchase. The operator attempted to have the man purchase gift cards in order to resolve the matter. Recognizing this to be a scam, the man declined.

While he was on the phone, he noted that someone had hacked his computer and gained access to his online banking, attempting to transfer money from one of his accounts to another account he held. The bank has been notified and the detective bureau is currently investigating.

11-27-2020

4:16 p.m. – Patrols, along with the Glen Rock Ambulance Corps, responded to Broad Street and Ackerman Avenue in response to a 9-1-1 report of an injured woman in the street. Upon arrival they found that the victim, a 25-year-old Glen Rock woman, had fallen off a bicycle and struck her head on the curb causing her to lose consciousness. The victim was transported to Valley Hospital in Ridgewood with non-life-threatening injuries.

11-28-2020

4:39 p.m. – A Glen Rock man reported that his son’s bicycle was stolen from the area of the Glen Rock Middle School. According to the youth, he left his bicycle unlocked by the bicycle rack around 2:30 PM while playing soccer. When he returned at 4 PM the bicycle was missing. It is described as a black Nishiki with green letters, valued at $200.
