On the morning of Jan. 25, a car allegedly driven by a juvenile slammed into a vehicle driven by Dymond Fryson, 40, just a few doors down from her home in Teaneck, according to information from prosecutors and family members.

Fryson sustained serious injuries in the crash, which occurred at 7:55 a.m. after she had dropped one of her two daughters at school, according to information from relatives and officials.

Last week, the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office sent out a release saying a juvenile had been charged in the crash, which had left Fryson seriously injured.

However, days later Fryson passed away.

The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office gave an update Tuesday, saying, "The initial investigation revealed that a 2015 Ford Explorer struck a 2022 Nissan Rogue resulting in the vehicles leaving the roadway. The juvenile operator of the Ford Explorer fled on foot after the crash and was subsequently arrested by Teaneck Police Officers."

The investigation into the crash remains ongoing, prosecutors said.

Family members said there were at least two juveniles in the car.

Prosecutors said, "On Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2024, the charges against the Juvenile were upgraded to second-degree vehicular homicide, and second-degree leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident resulting in death. The juvenile was served with the additional complaints, released into the custody of a guardian and is scheduled for a first appearance in the Chancery Division of family court in Hackensack."

Fryson left behind two daughters, a niece of whom she was the guardian, and husband Dr. Isaiah Brown, a school principal in the Bronx.
