Charges Won't Be Dismissed Against Ex-Ridgewood Coach
Kurt Ludwigsen is accused of molesting seven softball players he coached at Nyack College.

The charges against Kurt Ludwigsen, a former Ridgewood resident accused of molesting seven college softball players, won’t be dismissed, authorities said Wednesday.
Ludwigsen’s attorney filed a motion to dismiss the 197 charges filed against him, which was denied, said Rockland County Prosecutor Richard Moran.
Moran said that the case against Ludwigsen will proceed; Ludwigsen’s next pre-trial hearing is scheduled for Nov. 4.

Moran anticipates that Ludwigsen’s attorney will file a motion to suppress certain evidence from being presented during a trial, which will be denied, and a subsequent hearing be held where a judge will issue a final ruling.
Ludwigsen, 44, was recently indicted on 197 counts of sexual abuse, harassment, forcible touching, and first-degree felony coercion. He plead not guilty to all 197 counts. Authorities allege that Ludwigsen, a married father of two children, kissed and touched several Nyack College players’ breasts and buttocks.

Moran told the The Record that he expects Ludwigsen’s trail to start in late this year or early 2016. Ludwigsen moved back to California since his April arrest and remains free on $15,000 bail.
