Video shows children jumping for their lives from a balcony.

A video shows children jumping for their lives from a balcony as a fire ripped through a New Jersey dance studio on Monday (see video below).

The girls escaped as the flames engulfed the Edgewater studio that houses the Beyoglu hookah lounge. The studio was on the second floor.

Some of the girls used a ladder while others just jumped. Screaming can be heard as the ladder falls over, and others yell "jump."

"Just gotta get the girls out, couldn't do it quick enough," Edgewater police Sgt. James Dalton told News4 New York.

The flames were knocked down by Monday night. No one was seriously hurt. The smoke could be seen from Manhattan.

Edgewater Wine & Spirits owner Tony Nehmi rescued two of the girls with the help of Edgewater Police Officer Jimmy Dalton, according to nj.com. Nehmi told the publication he immediately ran toward the building when he saw smoke.

Nehmi told nj.com he started asking some restaurant workers if they knew if anyone was still inside. They then saw two girls pounding on the glass on the second floor, so he knew had to act quickly as the room was quickly filling with smoke.

"I just wanted to get those two girls out, I never would have lived with myself if they got hurt," Nehmi told the publication, adding that the girls were unable to break the glass so he grabbed a ladder, used it to climb to the balcony and then broke the glass.
