Cops Catch Man Who Took Baby With Him To Buy Crack: Police

Glen Rock Police caught the man driving through Glen Rock using his cell phone and found crack cocaine in the vehicle, authorities said.

GLEN ROCK, N.J. — A man who admitting taking his 16-month-old son with him to buy crack cocaine in Paterson was arrested by Glen Rock Police Saturday afternoon.

Police saw Timothy Jacobsen, 34, of West Milford, take his eyes off the road and use his cell phone while on Lincoln Avenue, said Chief Dean Ackermann. Jacobsen drove several blocks before stopping and police saw him move around the inside of the vehicle, Ackermann said.

Sgt. Frank Riggio was asking Jacobsen questions when he saw a bag filled with suspected crack cocaine, the chief said. Jacobsen admitted that he was ashamed because he took his son with him to Paterson to purchase crack cocaine and was going home when police stopped him, Ackermann said.

Jacobsen was charged with possession of narcotics, endangering the welfare of a child and possession of narcotics paraphernalia, police said. He was released pending an appearance in Bergen County Superior Court Feb. 10, Ackermann said.

The state Division of Child Protection and Permanency and the child's mother were notified and went to police headquarters, the chief said.
