Two Indicted For Shooting 40 Bullets Into Ridgewood Church

Alexander Norrell of Ridgewood and Joseph Galli were indicted on gun charges for damaging Old Paramus Reformed Church, authorities say.

Two cousins, including a Ridgewood resident, have been indicted for firing more than 40 bullets into the Old Paramus Reformed Church late last year.

Alexander Norrell, 23 of Ridgewood, and Joseph Galli, 22 of Somerville, were indicted on second-degree gun charges, The Record reported.

An eight-count indictment said the men had an assault rifle, a sawed-off shotgun, and another rifle, and that Norrell unlawfully possessed a large capacity ammunition weapon, the report states. They were also indicted for causing more than $2,000 in property damage and possessing a sawed-off shot gun.

The bullets shattered a stained glass window from 1875, a repair that cost $50,000, NBCphiladelphia.com reported.

The damage was reported to police Dec. 28, who said there were no known motives or threats received by the church or its pastor around that time.

Norrell was arrested in January after police allegedly found drugs and high capacity magazines at his home.

Norrell has been free on $105,000 bail since January, The Record reported. Galli is still being held at the Bergen County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.
