Coyote Spotted Near North Van Dien And East Ridgewood Avenues Recently

Village manager informs residents the animal has been spotted in the morning when children are walking to school.

Coyotes have been spotted near North Van Dien Avenue and East Ridgewood Avenue recently, authorities said.

The animals have been spotted “generally in the morning hours when children are walking to school,” said Village Manager Roberta Sonenfeld in an e-mail to residents.

Sonenfeld said residents should not leave their pets unattended in yards.

Sonenfeld said she would continue to notify people about the coyotes “when there are multiple sightings.”

Coyotes have been seen around residents in several Bergen County municipalities in the past few months.

A coyote attacked a small dog and killed a sheep in Saddle River earlier this week. The dog survived, NorthJersey.com reported.

Paramus police informed residents that a coyote was spotted in the back of Westbrook Middle School.

Authorities captured an aggressive coyote last month that was seen near Norwood Public School.

A rabid coyote also attacked a Norwood man while he was walking his dog last month. That coyote was found and euthanized. Another man was attacked at his Saddle River home while working in his yard. That same coyote, according to reports, attacked a neighbor’s dog as well.
