Driver Killed In New Jersey Turnpike Crash: Police

A driver was killed after their car crashed on the New Jersey Turnpike in Rutherford early Friday morning, state police said.

The crash occurred on the Turnpike southbound at mile marker 115 at 1:44 a.m., said Trooper Alina Spies.

Authorities did not release the victim’s identity or the cause of the crash.

Emergency personnel had to remove the driver from the car because the person was pinned inside, Spies said.

The individual was pronounced dead at Hackensack University Medical Center, Spies said.
