Expect Delays With PSE&G Gas Line Project Underway In Ridgewood

Work will be done through the summer on 11 village streets.

RIDGEWOOD, NJ — Residents and motorists should expect delays in some parts of the village as PSE&G has begun replacing gas pipes in the village as part of a massive upgrade project.

The work is part of the utility company's $905 million project to replace 510 miles of cast iron and steel gas mains and 38,000 service lines over three years.

Work will take place Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., weather permitting. Work began Friday. There will be short-term road closures and detours while work is done, PSE&G said.

The utility company said it would notify residents by mail and other means of when work would begin on their street.

The project is expected to be completed by the fall, with paving work expected to be done by the spring of 2018.

“The investments PSE&G is making to upgrade its aging gas infrastructure will benefit all Ridgewood residents by ensuring continued safe and reliable service,” said Mayor Susan Knudsen. “PSE&G is coordinating with the local police who will be directing traffic around work areas. We appreciate the patience of our residents while PSE&G performs this important work in our town.”
