Founding Member of Ridgewood Symphony Orchestra Dies
Allan Parker, 88, joined the symphony in 1939 and served in numerous capacities during his time
One of the founding members of the Ridgewood Symphony Orchestra died Saturday, according to the organization. Allan Parker, of Ho-Ho-Kus, was 88.
In its Facebook message, the RSO says Parker, an attorney, retired from the orchestra in November due to health reasons. According to the RSO, he was among the first members of the organization, joining in 1939 while in high school. After WWII, marrying and starting a family, Parker returned to the orchestra in 1974.
"He was with the RSO for about 40 years as a member of the cello section," the message reads. "Additionally, at times he served on the Board, and acted as the orchestra's accountant, and as our IRS tax preparer, and as legal consultant."
