Fugitive, Heroin, Pills, And $10K Found In Camper At Glen Rock Home: Police

Police found more than 50 doses of heroin, pills, several dozen syringes, crack pipes and $10,000.

GLEN ROCK, NJ — A wanted fugitive, dozens of doses of heroin, pills, syringes and $10,000 were found in a camper in a driveway Thursday, police said.

While on patrol, Officer John Tarantino saw a large camper in the driveway of a home; someone appeared to have used the camper as a place to live, said Chief Dean Ackermann.

Tarantino was trying to get information about the camper to refer it to the borough's code enforcement official when he learned that the camper's owner, Vincent Marino, 53, was a wanted fugitive by the Passaic County Superior Court, the chief said.

Marino, formerly of Glen Rock and Lodi, was detained by the Passaic County Sheriff's Department, Ackermann said.

Tarantino suspected narcotics activity in the camper and police obtained a search warrant from Bergen County Superior Court judge and searched the vehicle, the chief said.

Police found a brick of heroin, which is about 50 doses, $10,000, five lose glassine folds of heroin, several pills believed to be painkillers, several hypodermic syringes, several glass crack pipes with suspected cocaine residue on them, several thousands empty glassine folds with suspected heroin residue on them, Ackermann said.

Marino was charged with possession of heroin, unlawful possession of prescription controlled dangerous substances, possession of hypodermic syringes and possession of drug paraphernalia, the chief said.

The owner is being detained at the Passaic County Jail and will make an appearance in Bergen County Judicial Processing Court, the chief said.
