German Language School of Morris County Celebrates Student Achievements and National Honors for Language Proficiency
National German Exam, German Language Diploma, Book Awards and Delta Epsilon Phi Honor Society Inductees Announced
The non-profit German Language School of Morris County (GLSMC), http://www.glsmc.org, celebrated the end of the school year with student performances, and a national awards for language proficiency presentation followed by a brunch for more than 180 students and their families.
Principal Michaela Greco and GLSMC Board of Trustees presented German Language Diplomas to five students, while 25 students received certificates and metals for passing the National German Language Exam. The German Consulate/New York recognized 16 students for their achievements with the presentation of books from the Consulate’s annual Book Awards program. The school also inducted 11 students into the National German Honor Society and National Junior German Honor Society during the ceremony.
“Every year we see how hard students have worked and this morning’s program celebrates their achievements,” said Principal Greco. “Not only have our students achieved stellar scores on the National German Exam, several students have passed the German Language Diploma that would allow them to study at German-speaking universities in Europe. We applaud their hard work and ongoing commitment to learning German.”

National German Exam, German Language Diploma, Book Awards and Delta Epsilon Phi
The National German Exam, administered annually to more than 24,000 high school students by the American Association of Teachers of German (AATG), recognizes verbal and written proficiency in three levels of German. The test includes comprehension, reading and conversational skills, and applied structure of grammar and idioms in context. Annually, the German Consulate in New York City recognizes student achievement with gifts of age-appropriate German language books.

GLSMC, a Partner School (http://www.pasch-net.de/deindex.htm)
with the German Federal Republic’s Agency for German Schools Abroad (ZfA), also tests students at six levels of proficiency to earn the German Language Diploma. The ZfA supports German language schools worldwide with professional development, teaching and classroom materials, as well as funding. Students who demonstrate higher levels of comprehension and communication are eligible to study at universities and technical schools throughout the German-speaking nations of Europe. Results for this international exam will be announced later in the year.
