GLEN ROCK, NJ — An 18-year-old borough woman was scammed after she received an unsolicited job offer in an email, police said.
The prospective "employer" mailed the woman a check for $3,970, told her to deposit the money into her account and then send the money to various "clients," said Chief Dean Ackermann.
The woman was later told by her bank that the check was fraudulent and her account was overdrawn, Ackermann said.
The Detective Bureau is reviewing the matter.
