In Glen Rock, 6 Cars Have Been Stolen In The Last 3 Months
Two vehicles were reported as possibly burglarized, and another was stolen last week in Glen Rock, police say.

5:16 p.m. – A Highland Road resident reported the theft of two Amazon packages and dry cleaning which had been delivered to the front porch of the home. Detectives are currently reviewing video footage in an effort to determine if images of the actor(s) had been recorded.

6:11 a.m. – An Oaklynn Place resident reported that their 2010 Toyota Sienna was stolen from their driveway overnight. The vehicle had been left unlocked and the keys were in the vehicle. The homeowner’s son reported that the vehicle had been in the driveway when he went outside at 1:30 AM. The vehicle has been entered into NCIC as stolen.

This is the sixth stolen vehicle reported in Glen Rock over the last 3 months. In all cases vehicles were unlocked and the keys were inside. These types of thefts are common throughout residential communities in northern New Jersey which has been targeted for these crimes due to the prevalence of unlocked cars which are easy targets for thieves. Citizen’s are reminded to lock their vehicles and NEVER leave the keys or key fobs in them.

9:09 a.m. – A resident on the 300 block of Doremus Avenue reported that their unlocked vehicle was entered sometime overnight. The interior of the vehicle was rummaged through; however, nothing was reported to be missing. Video images recovered at the scene did detect a vehicle stopped near the house around 4:30 AM for a brief period, however, the images were not clear enough to identify the vehicle or any potential actors. The video has been forwarded to the detective bureau for review.

1:26 p.m. – A resident on the 500 block of Doremus Avenue reported that their unlocked vehicle was entered overnight. Reported as missing were face masks and some loose change.

4:35 p.m. – A resident on the 200 block of Rodney Street reported that their unlocked vehicle was entered sometime overnight. The interior of the vehicle was rummaged through, reported as missing were Tylenol capsules. A video surveillance system at the residence did not detect motion activity throughout the night.
Police are asking residents with home video surveillance systems to check any video they may have captured around their property during the period after dark on July 31 and daybreak on August 1.
It is common for thieves to enter driveways and pull door handles looking for unlocked vehicles, police said. They are only in driveways for a matter of seconds and quickly move on, making them very difficult to spot.
