Glen Rock Blotter: 2 Reports Of Fraudulent Unemployment Claims
Another resident was forced to notify the IRS after he tried to file his tax return, but found that someone had already done so in his name.

3:39 p.m. – A Glen Rock resident reported that when attempting to file his income taxes, he learned that someone had already fraudulently filed a return using his identity. The IRS has been notified and the matter is currently under investigation by federal authorities.

12:20 p.m. – Officers were dispatched to the area of the Bergen Line Train Station near Harding Plaza to investigate a report of a distraught male attempting to jump in front of a train. P.O. John Tarantino, assisted by P.O. James Mc Gill and T.J. Graziani, was able to locate the man, who was crying and pacing back and forth stating he wanted to kill himself. He recounted to officers that he was about to jump in front of a train, however, there were several children in the area, and he did not want to commit suicide in front of them.

After about 20 minutes of speaking with the man, P.O. Tarantino was able to de-escalate the tense situation and convince the subject, a 44-year-old Hoboken man, to seek psychiatric assistance. Officers subsequently transported the man to New Bridge Medical Center in Paramus.

3:39 p.m. – Officers were dispatched to the CVS Store on Rock Road in response to a report from the manager of a shoplifter who had just fled the store. The subject, a 38-year-old New York City man, was subsequently apprehended by P.O. John Tarantino at the Main Line Train Station, assisted by D/Sgt. Jim Calalski and Det. Lucas Doney. The officers were also able to recover $290 worth of stolen merchandise, which included body wash, razors, shampoo, vitamins, and other personal care products.
The man was transported to Police HQ where he was processed and charged with shoplifting. He was released on his own recognizance pending an appearance before Central Judicial Processing at the Superior Court in Hackensack.

1:18 p.m. – A Glen Rock man reported that an unknown individual had attempted to file an unemployment claim in his name. Glen Rock detectives are following up on this matter with investigators for the NJ Division of Criminal Justice.

09:01 a.m. – A Valley Road resident reported observing a suspicious male wandering in the area of Sterling Place before getting into an older grey Toyota Camry and driving off at what was described as a high rate of speed. The complainant did not report the incident until over six hours after it occurred. Nothing in the area was found to be out of order and no other reports were received.

4:24 PM – Another Glen Rock resident reported that an unknown individual had attempted to file an unemployment claim in their name in the state of Kentucky. The complainant had previously reported a fraudulent unemployment claim filed in New Jersey.
