05-11-2021
3:45 p.m. – Patrols responded to a 9-1-1 report of a woman run over by her own vehicle on Chestnut Street. Investigation determined that the woman had fallen out of her vehicle while it was in reverse, not park. The motorist was struck and knocked down by the open door but did not go underneath the vehicle. She was treated on scene by paramedics and subsequently transported to Hackensack University Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

8:36 a.m. – Multiple officers were dispatched to the Academy of Our Lady School in response to an irate and aggressive individual at their door which had resulted in the school being placed into lockdown in order to protect the students. Upon arrival officers field contacted a 46-year-old Ridgewood man who was aggressively knocking on the doors and windows. Investigation determined that he was a parent who was upset about the school’s COVID-19 policies. Officers were able to calm the man down and acknowledge that his behavior had caused a disruption at the school. The principal explained what he needed to do in order to comply with school policy and the man left the area without further incident.

12:59 p.m. – Patrols were dispatched to a report of a dispute in progress at the Exxon Station at Maple Avenue and Highwood Avenue. Investigation found that a 70-year-old Oceanside NY man was disputing the amount of gasoline he had ordered. The man claimed that he had only requested $ 12 worth of gas, while the attendant claimed he requested a full tank and required payment in the amount of $50. The man agreed to pay $25 due to the miscommunication. The employee stated that he would need to address the matter with the owner who was not present. The payment of $25 was accepted and both were advised that this is a civil matter, not a police matter, which they would need to resolve through the courts if desired.

1:18 p.m. – A Kent Road resident reported theft of her purse and wallet containing $20 in cash and credit cards from her unlocked vehicle. The theft reportedly occurred sometime between 4:30 PM on May 13th and 11:30 AM on May 14th while the vehicle was parked in the driveway overnight or in the street during the day. She subsequently received an alert from her bank that her credit card was used in Paterson to purchase over $800 worth of merchandise at an electronics store. The card has since been canceled.

1:23 p.m. – Patrols were dispatched to Midwood Road to investigate a 9-1-1 report of an unconscious man behind the wheel of a 2016 Mercedes SUV. Unable to rouse the driver, officers forced entry to the vehicle and removed the unconscious man who was subsequently administered Narcan. Upon being revived, care was turned over to arriving paramedics and he was transported by Glen Rock EMS to Valley Hospital in Ridgewood. One officer suffered minor injuries while forcing entry to the vehicle. He was treated on scene and declined further aid.
Investigation determined that the vehicle the victim was driving had run off the roadway causing damage to the front lawn of a Midwood Road residence. The matter was documented for insurance purposes.

4:20 p.m. – A Glen Rock resident reported receiving a message from Experian concerning new activity on her credit report. An unknown party using her name, date of birth, and social security number had applied for a loan with the US Small Business Association. Following this notification, the victim then learned that an unknown party had applied for unemployment benefits using her information. The Detective Bureau is currently reviewing this matter.
