Glen Rock Girl, 16, Found With LSD; 15-Year-Old Found Drunk: Police

The 15-year-old may have gotten drunk at a house party, police said.

GLEN ROCK, NJ — Sixteen- and 15-year-old borough girls were arrested on LSD possession and public intoxication Friday in separate incidents, police said.

Police arrested the 16-year-old at 4:44 p.m. Friday after police discovered she had 10 tabs of LSD on her, said Chief Dean Ackermann. The arrest came as a result of an ongoing investigation by Detective Mike Trover.

The girl was charged on a juvenile delinquency complaint with possession of narcotics and released to her mother's custody, police said. The case was referred to the Juvenile Court in Hackensack.

Glen Rock officials have seen a "resurgence" in the use of LSD among borough youth. Police and other officials sent a letter to parents last month about the use of illegal drugs and alcohol by borough youth.

In another incident, the father of a 15-year-old girl reported he found her "highly intoxicated" on the front lawn of Richard E. Byrd Elementary School at 9:19 p.m., Ackermann said.

The chief said the girl may have had the alcohol at an unsupervised house party, but when officers arrived at the alleged home, no one was there.

Police contacted the homeowner and told them that a party may have occurred at the house, police said.

Local and county officials will discuss the growing degree of drug use among local teenagers and young adults at a special community forum May 16 at 7 p.m. at the Glen Rock High School media center.
