Glen Rock Man Allegedly Stalked And Harassed Resident — Then Blamed Someone Else

BREAKING: Brian Rooney, 48, allegedly sent harassing notes and text messages to a Glen Rock resident and tried implicating someone else.

GLEN ROCK, NJ — A borough man has been charged with stalking after he allegedly sent harassing notes and text messages to a Glen Rock resident and tried implicating someone else, authorities said.

Brian Rooney, 48, was also charged with filing a false report and hindering after a joint investigation was conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office and the Glen Rock Police Department.

The prosecutor's office was informed Feb. 22 that two Glen Rock residents received harassing notes and text messages over the course of 18 months, said Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal. Rooney, a married employment recruiter, was one of the residents.

An investigation by the prosecutor's office Cyber Crimes Unit and the Glen Rock Police Department revealed that Rooney sent the harassing communications to himself and the other person, Grewal said. Rooney attempted to implicate someone else as the one who sent the harassing communications, the prosecutor said.

Rooney was arrested Monday and charged on a complaint summons. He was released on his own recognizance pending his first court appearance April 12, Grewal said.
