Glen Rock Man Found Dead In Waters Near Barnegat Light

Kiariff Alston was reported missing from Glen Rock last week. His body was recovered by the Coast Guard on Friday in Ocean County.

GLEN ROCK, NJ — The body of a 26-year-old Glen Rock man who had been missing since last week has been recovered in the waters near Barnegat Light in Ocean County, the Glen Rock Police Department reported.

Law enforcement officials conducted a four-day search for Kiariff Alston, who had last been seen by security cameras filling up his car at a Paterson gas station on Oct. 10. He was reported missing by family a day later after he didn't show up for his shift at Home Depot.

Police said the search "ended tragically" when the U.S. Coast Guard recovered his body in the water off of Barnegat Light, about two miles off the coast of Island Beach State Park.

His vehicle was later located in Seaside Heights. Glen Rock Police Sgt. Michael Trover and Det. Lucas Doney traveled to Seaside Heights, working with members of the local department in canvassing the area in an attempt to find Alston until they were contacted by the Coast Guard, Glen Rock police said.

An autopsy was conducted by the Ocean County Medical Examiner’s Office, whose formal findings are pending. An investigation remains ongoing.
