Glen Rock Officials Move Ahead With School Radio Improvement Plan
Officials heard about potential improvements that could be made and are ready to pick a vendor to optimize radio communications in schools.

GLEN ROCK, NJ — Authorities are moving on to the next phase of a plan to increase security at the middle and high schools following the revelation that emergency responder radios do not work inside the buildings.
A Radio Task Force met with several communication security vendors and heard recommendations about potential improvements that could be made to the system. After meeting a number of times, the task force will select one vendor, who will then work to optimize radio communications inside of the buildings.
"As a group, we will accept nothing less than a proper and effective resolution brought about in a timely manner," a press release issued by Mayor Bruce Packer's office stated. "There is nothing more important to all involved in this effort than the safety of our children."

Councilman Skip Huisking, chairman of the Borough Public Safety Division, told NorthJersey.com in June that the radios do not work and that users cannot talk to dispatch or people outside of the buildings.
Glen Rock Ambulance Corps Chief Ed Esposito said in the NorthJersey.com report that the problem is not with the radios, which are up to date. The problem is too much steel in the school buildings.
