Glen Rock Police Officer Injured While Responding To Crash: Cops
A police car that pulled over a driver on a Bergen County highway was then hit by a passing motorist.
GLEN ROCK, NJ — A Glen Rock police officer was involved in a car crash while conducting a traffic stop last Thursday, police said.
The officer had pulled over a driver on Route 208 just before 2 p.m. and parked his police car on the shoulder, with lights flashing, police said.
But a passing car struck the rear of the patrol vehicle, police said.

The officer had just gotten back into the patrol vehicle at the time of the collision, but was not seriously injured, police said.
As a precaution, he was evaluated at the scene and later treated and released from Valley Hospital in Paramus with a minor injury.

The car that struck the patrol vehicle had disabling damage and was towed from the scene, police said. The driver was summonsed.
Glen Rock Police Chief Dean Ackermann said, "This incident underscores the critical importance of New Jersey’s 'Keep left' law, which requires motorists to move over to the left lane when approaching stationary emergency vehicles with activated emergency lights, or to slow down if unable to safely change lanes."
