GLEN ROCK, NJ — High school students in New Jersey are showing their support for patients diagnosed with new coronavirus the Madrid autonomous community.

Students in AP Spanish and Spanish 5 Honors at Glen Rock High School wrote letters of support this week to coronavirus patients in total isolation in a hospital in the Madrid autonomous community.

A surgeon at the hospital used social messaging site WhatsApp to ask for letters to be written to patients who are suffering both physically and emotionally while in the hospital, according to school district officials.

The students promoted their letters on social media by using #gettingbettertogether and #mejorandojuntos.

“Our students were happy and excited to participate in such a great cause,” Glen Rock Spanish Teacher Señora Breuer said. “We are proud of the great work they have done and their desire to support others going through a difficult time. I hope other teachers and classes will be joining the cause soon.”
