Glen Rock Woman Struck By SUV In Central Business District: Police

The woman was hit by an SUV, police said.

GLEN ROCK, NJ — A borough woman was struck in a crosswalk in the middle of the Central Business District on Glen Avenue Friday afternoon, police said.

The woman, who had the right-of-way, was in the Glen Avenue crosswalk at about 2 p.m. on Rock Road walking east in front of the Glen Rock Inn when an SUV making a left-hand turn from Rock Road onto Glen Avenue struck her, said Police Chief Dean Ackermann. The walking woman had an umbrella open and canted, which may have kept her from seeing the SUV, he said.

The SUV was driven by a 52-year-old Glen Rock woman, the chief said.

Glen Rock Emergency Medical Technicians treated the woman at the scene and the borough's ambulance corps took her to Valley Hospital in Ridgewood with non-life-threatening injuries, Ackermann said.

The driver, who EMTs also treated, was issued a summons for failing to stop for a pedestrian in a marked crosswalk, the chief said. Police took her and her child to their home.

Authorities inspected the pedestrian crossing light and traffic signal. They appeared to be working normally, Ackermann said.
