EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ — The New Jersey State Fair shutdown on Thursday after gunfire broke out, sending people to the exits. A video captured the chaotic scene (see video below).
The fair reopened Friday with increased security, bag checks and state police stationed at various locations, NorthJersey.com reported.
At least four people were arrested as troopers rushed to the scene at the amusement park portion of the fair outside MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford around 11:30 Thursday night.

At least three shots were heard, witnesses said. It wasn't immediately clear if there were any injuries. One witness told NBC4 the violence started when a fight broke out between a group of men.

This was the first day of the N.J. State Fair at the Meadowlands.

The shooting occurred 30 minutes before the fair was set to close, according to nj.com. There were no details on those arrested.
Witnesses on social media said they heard the shots. "Someone just screamed 'shooting' and everyone started running at the state fair HOLY F--K," tweeted one fairgoer
A state fair spokesman told nj.com he did not know whether metal detectors were used at event entrance points, although MetLife Stadium and the New Jersey State Police provide security for the event.
