Hacked Instagram Account Leads To $25K Loss For Glen Rock Woman
A Glen Rock woman thought she was speaking to a friend through Instagram. She wasn't, and now, police say, she's out $25,000.

GLEN ROCK, NJ — A hacked Instagram account has created a major headache — and hurt to the pocketbook — for one Glen Rock resident.
A Glen Rock resident woman reported to police on Oct. 12 that she was communicating with a person through Instagram who she believed to be a friend. The purported friend sought to have the resident invest in a business venture, according to police.
The Glen Rock woman agreed, sending payment through CashApp and Zelle. The only probalem is that the Instagram account had been hacked, and the money sent to a stranger, police said.

A payment was attempted through Western Union with the money sent through the apps, however, it was denied as a suspicious transaction.
At the time of the report, it is believed that the resident was defrauded out of $25,000. The detective bureau is currently reviewing the matter, police said.
