Hackensack Cop Faked His Military Records To Get Paid Leave: Prosecutor
A Hackensack policeman used falsified Marine Corps records over four years to get paid military leave, prosecutors said.
HACKENSACK, NJ — A Hackensack police officer was arrested Wednesday for falsifying Marine Corps records in order to get paid leave, prosecutors said.
Forrod Bonsu, 31, of Hackensack was charged with theft and forgery, said the Bergen County Prosecutor's office on Friday.
Officials said that on Feb. 6, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Confidential Investigations Unit received information about forged military records being submitted to the city of Hackensack.

Prosecutors and the Hackensack Police Department Professional Standards Unit investigated over three months.
They determined that from around July 28, 2021, through last Dec. 7, Bonsu provided falsified United States Marine Corps records to the City of Hackensack in order to get paid military leave from the Police Department, totaling $18,689.

He was charged with third-degree theft by unlawful taking, forth-degree forgery, and fourth-degree falsifying records.
He was released to await further court action, prosecutors said.
